Anthony Simkins

Name: Anthony Simkins

Title: Account Executive

What drives you? How did your career path lead to Fortress?

What drives me is my standard to do the best I can at whatever I do; to work hard every day in an effort to reach my potential. But what keeps me going is the excitement and thrill I get from the positive feedback loop of genuine curiosity leading to new knowledge, which in turn leads to personal growth - and the cycle repeats.

Having developed trust and respect for Tiffany Bergstrom, Fortress’ SVP of Sales, after working for her at our previous company, it was an easy decision to follow her to Fortress. However, after meeting the rest of the Fortress team, it became a no-brainer.

How has your experience with Fortress been thus far?

Although it’s been challenging, it’s also been a lot of fun - and that’s exactly why I signed up! The idea of change is always met with resistance, and revolutionizing an industry is no small task. So you really have to believe in the value of your product in order to persevere. But with so much positive feedback from our customers, it's easy to stay motivated.

What about the company do you value most?

Hands down, the people I work with. Their kindness, wealth of knowledge, and willingness to help have made it an amazing experience. To quote the brilliant Naval Ravikant, “Play long-term games with long-term people.”

How does your role allow you to contribute to the growth and vision of the company?

In sales, there's always a direct connection to company growth. But unlike other roles where the sole focus was developing new business, here I get to brainstorm and collaborate with my team to contribute ideas for improvement - which is, as it should be a continuous exercise.

What would you say to someone considering joining the Fortress team?

It's a great opportunity for someone looking to build something special, but you need to have that "go the extra mile" attitude. Great achievements don't come from just working a basic 9-5.
