What drives you? How did your career path lead to Fortress?
I really enjoy taking things from zero to one. Incremental improvement is great, but I’m driven by finding challenging problems that have no existing solution, researching them in depth, developing efficient products to solve them, and working with potential customers to refine them.
This has been true ever since I started my career in real estate and saw how inefficient the industry was. It led me to learn programming and data science, and pursue a career developing real estate technology.
At Fortress, I saw an opportunity to use my expertise to change the property management software market. It’s a massive market that really needs change.
How has your experience with Fortress been thus far?
It’s been phenomenal. It’s such a great team with people who really care about developing elegant solutions that improve the lives of property managers and owners.
What about the company do you value most?
The people. Everyone has a positive, can-do attitude and tackles difficult problems with alacrity.
How does your role allow you to contribute to the growth and vision of the company?
I work closely with the Sales, Product and Customer Success teams to outline ambitious goals and develop strategies to achieve them.
As CMO, I am continually testing different messaging in the market and measuring results, then giving that feedback to the team to help prioritize initiatives in sales and product.
What would you say to someone considering joining the Fortress team?
If you like the idea of working with a remote team that collaborates so effectively it feels like we’re all in the same office, while learning about every facet of property management and developing solutions to move a tech-averse industry forward, Fortress is the place for you.
It won’t be easy, and you won’t have everything spelled out for you - that’s just not how it works in startups. But if you’re curious, driven, and more inspired by possibility than you are fearful of uncertainty - you can’t go wrong building the next phase of your career on the solid foundation Fortress has built.
