What drives you? How did your career path lead to Fortress?
I am not only motivated or inspired by the allure of success itself but rather by the process or path along the way. Anyone who has ever worked with me knows that I love a good Inky Johnson quote like “It’s the process over the product.”
I have been in technology sales in various roles for almost a decade. With each role, I tend to lean into new challenges, pushing to learn and grow– being comfortable with the uncomfortable.
Fortress was so attractive to me because of its commitment to customer success and growing presence in a market that needed innovation. The pain that we hear from clients around existing solutions, or new-to-market solutions that just don’t ‘get it’ makes me fall in love every day with the path we are walking down as a team.
How has your experience with Fortress been thus far?
Building this stellar team and collaborating with some of the best in the business has been a joy and certainly a highlight in my career so far. This includes our external team members– working with our partners to bring together a total and complete solution has been a warm welcome.
What about the company do you value most?
One thing? I don’t think there is really one thing I can say that is most valued, but the top things that come to mind are: The people (clients, employees, partners) are stellar human-beings that genuinely care in how we each can support each other.
The technology is well thought out and financially impactful, with a focus on making onboarding simple– literally focusing on the psychological impacts that we all face during change management (or implementing any system really) at a scalable realistic unit rate.
And finally, the collaboration, which I guess is similar to the people, but we all have a seat at the table to make improvements and signal when it’s time to walk versus run or vice versa– it’s refreshing in a startup to have that.
How does your role allow you to contribute to the growth and vision of the company?
By definition, I am the Head of Sales at Fortress. So my team is focused on growing our ecosystem and is responsible for bringing in new clients and partners. We are collaborative with every department to ensure the vision for the platform is unified and to continue to add new features and functionality that the market wants.
Everyone at Fortress has a powerful impact on the platform, and I like that I get to contribute not only in dollars and cents but also to work cross collaboratively in how we see the world of property management from that same ecosystem's eyes.
What would you say to someone considering joining the Fortress team?
